WHAT WE DO
National Network
ORLANDO Children's Health Project
The mission of the Orlando Children’s Health Project (OCHP) is to positively impact the quality of life of underserved youth by providing access to medical, behavioral, case management, and ancillary healthcare services.
The program partners with the Orange County School District to serve middle and high schools with the highest rates of poverty, academic underachievement, and minority student enrollment. It uses a mobile medical clinic, Teen Xpress, which provides adolescents with year-round access to health services at selected school sites and through community outreach programs.
Through a second mobile clinic for school-based health services, Teen Xpress enables case managers to expand services to additional school sites. Many of OCHP’s patients face health challenges, including chronic diseases, nutrition-related illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, unplanned pregnancies, and mental health issues.
By providing comprehensive health and wraparound services, regardless of ability to pay, OCHP significantly reduces the unmet health needs of economically disadvantaged adolescents.
